.UPDATE...
Issued at 944 PM EDT Tue Oct 8 2024
A clear, cool, and quiet night across the region as high pressure
continues to dominate. Only real question is how low do some of the
typical cool spots get? Do think we'll see some upper 30s in a few
spots, otherwise most locations will dip into the 40s.

.SHORT TERM /THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
Issued at 317 PM EDT Tue Oct 8 2024
Spectacular Fall weather continues this afternoon and tomorrow. A
dry airmass remains in place, and sfc high pressure is centered over
MO/IL this afternoon. High pressure will drift very slowly east-
southeast through tomorrow, with light northerly winds persisting.
Winds will go calm in many areas tonight once the BL decouples.
Expect clear skies and Wednesday morning low temps in the low to mid
40s. We may see some patchy fog in valley locations, but this should
be pretty limited. Temperatures Wednesday afternoon will likely end
up slightly warmer than today due to increasing 1000-850 mb
thicknesses. Expect afternoon highs in the low to mid 70s east of I-
65 and mid to upper 70s along and west of I-65.

.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY/...
Issued at 317 PM EDT Tue Oct 8 2024
By Thursday, a positively tilted upper ridge will stretch through
the Midwest while the surface high over the Lower Ohio Valley begins
to get overtaken by the surface high over the Great Lakes. This will
result in light cold air advection remaining in place through the
end of the work week, but winds overall will be light.
By Friday, the aforementioned surface high will get pushed towards
the Mid-Atlantic Coast by upper flow, bringing return flow back to
southern Indiana and central Kentucky. Temperatures in the 70s on
Thursday and Friday will make a return to the low 80s, mainly west
of Interstate 65 on Saturday.
On Sunday, we will finally see a major change to the overall pattern
as a large low pressure system over Canada, embedded in an upper
trough, pushes a cold front through the Ohio Valley. This will
switch southwest winds to the northwest, returning cold air
advection to the region. With the lack of moisture, not expecting
any precipitation in the CWA. High temperatures on Monday will only
make it into the 60s, and by Tuesday, many areas will likely not
make it out of the 50s. Monday and Tuesday night, some areas will
see lows in the low to mid 30s.

.AVIATION /00Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z FRIDAY/...
Issued at 757 PM EDT Tue Oct 8 2024
VFR conditions through the TAF period as a very dry air mass
maintains clear skies. Calm winds and clear skies overnight, but
very limited fog concerns early Wednesday due to the dry airmass in
place. A light N or NE wind takes hold Wednesday afternoon.
