.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 231 PM EDT Tue Sep 3 2024

High pressure is now over the eastern Great Lakes this afternoon
which will allow for warmer, southerly flow by tomorrow and
Thursday. High temperatures in the low-80s are anticipated, followed
by mid-80s on Thursday. Dew points will rise into the 60s as well,
thus making for a somewhat humid afternoon.

Rain remains in the forecast Thursday night and Friday as a cold
front drops in. Any rain that falls is welcome given recent dryness.
Current rainfall forecast is generally less than 0.50". Breezy and
cooler with lake effect rain showers this weekend as trough aloft
wraps up over the Great Lakes. Of Canadian origin, 850-mb
temperatures will plummet toward 2C to 4C resulting in impressive
delta-Ts over a mild Lake Michigan. I've stayed close to the
existing forecast for this period. Drying out by Saturday night
through Sunday as west-northwest flow is less favorable for lake
effect.

While cool temperatures linger into Monday, a gradual warm up is
probable through next week as a western US ridge spreads east.
