The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Southeastern Hancock County in southern Mississippi...
Harrison County in southern Mississippi...
Southwestern Jackson County in southern Mississippi...
* Until 1145 PM CDT.
* At 839 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain
have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Gulfport, Biloxi, Ocean Springs, Long Beach, Moss Point, Bay St.
Louis, Waveland, St. Martin, Diamondhead, Gautier, D'iberville,
Lyman, Latimer, Gulf Hills, Gulf Park Estates, Vancleave, Hickory
Hills, Kiln, Shoreline Park and Gulfport Airport.
This includes the following Interstates...
Interstate 10 in Mississippi between mile markers 11 and 65.
Interstate 110 in Mississippi near mile marker 1...and
between mile markers 3 and 4.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
