.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 305 AM EDT Sun Sep 6 2026
Canadian high pressure has temporarily displaced a towering
500-mb ridge to our west for the remainder of the Labor Day
weekend. Our coolest day of the week appears to be today with
high temperatures generally in the upper-70s; perhaps 80 degrees
toward Lafayette. High pressure promotes dry conditions through
at least Wednesday morning but we will see a subtle warming
trend beyond today as return southerly flow, and the resumption
of upper-level ridging, eventually nudges temperatures back
toward 90 degrees. Wednesday, those south of the US 24 corridor
have a 25-30% chance of seeing a 90-degree temperature per
global ensembles.
To our north midweek, low pressure is wrapping up over western
Ontario with an occluded/cold front dropping south into the Midwest.
Moisture return into this front is lackluster and the front stalls
atop the now-depressed upper-level ridge. This results in
fairly modest rain chances at 20-40% Wednesday through Thursday
morning. Beyond this, there is growing concensus that a zonal
but progressive upper-air pattern takes shape presenting passing
chances for rain and storms while pushing temperatures near to
slightly above normal (normals of 77/54 by late next week).

.AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z MONDAY/...
Issued at 112 AM EDT Sun Sep 6 2026
High pressure just north of the Great Lakes will be in play
today, bringing SCT to FEW clouds and a light northeast wind.
Preexisting stratus is generally shifting southwest away from
the terminals and this trend is expected to continue.
Temperature and dew point spreads this morning appear to
preclude fog concerns, along with wind above 5kts.
