Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Pittsburgh PA
1122 PM EDT Tue Jul 21 2026

.WHAT HAS CHANGED...
Rain intensity and coverage will continue to decrease early
Wednesday morning. Creeks and streams may remain swollen and
create high-water impacts through dawn.

&&

.KEY MESSAGES...
1) High-water impacts expected through early Wednesday

&&

.DISCUSSION...
KEY MESSAGE 1...

In the wake of a large-scale disturbance, heavy rainfall (2 to 4
inches) has fallen south of Pittsburgh. High-water impacts may
continue for a number of communities despite the loss of rain
intensity and coverage through early Wednesday morning.

Given that the Allegheny River and Youghiogheny River Basin
were spare intensity rainfall amounts, the likelihood that
Pittsburgh will be impacted (Mon Wharf) by high water is
considered low.

Dry and quiet weather is expected Wednesday afternoon through
Friday under high pressure. The probability of hazardous weather
is considered very low.

&&

.AVIATION /03Z WEDNESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/...
A few stray showers and thunderstorms may impact LBE, HLG, and
MGW early Wednesday morning (between 04Z to 09Z). Otherwise,
rainfall coverage and intensity will be spotty.

With a passing cold front early Wednesday morning, winds will
shift from the northwest and MVFR to IFR cigs are expected to
develop for terminals east of ZZV. VFR conditions are expected
to return between 14Z to 16Z with diurnal heating.

Outlook...
There may be some MVFR cigs in the vicinity of DUJ/FKL early
Thursday morning with cool northerly flow. Otherwise, VFR
conditions will prevail under high pressure into Friday.
