Mesoscale Precipitation Discussion 0665
NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD
759 PM EDT Fri Jul 10 2026

Areas affected...Central Indiana and Southern Ohio

Concerning...Heavy rainfall...Flash flooding possible

Valid 102357Z - 110500Z

Summary...Repeating thunderstorms persist over central Indiana and
southern Ohio this evening. Localized flash flooding can be
expected.

Discussion...Warm sector activity south of a slow moving front
will continue to develop and train as it drifts south this
evening. Southwesterly low level flow is bringing 2" PW into
Indiana from southern Illinois which is feeding heavy
thunderstorms that are nearly stationary near Lafayette. Rainfall
of 2.5"/hr is estimated on this activity from KIND. Southern Ohio
activity is more cold pool driven and is shifting south from
Columbus through the southern part of the state. 1.9" PW has
pooled in south-central OH. Lower moisture currently between these
areas should increase through the evening as the SWly low level
flow shifts across southern Indiana.

Flash flood guidance is elevated over this discussion area from
recent dryness and is generally around 2"/hr. Isolated flash
flooding is possible through midnight.
