...A SPECIAL MARINE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 345 AM CDT...

For the following areas...
Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Maurepas...

At 306 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts
was located near Lake Maurepas. The severe thunderstorm was nearly
stationary.

HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Waterspouts can quickly form and capsize boats...damage 
         vessels and oil rigs...and create suddenly higher waves. 
         Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and 
         suddenly higher waves.

Locations impacted include...
Lake Maurepas and Manchac.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Boaters should avoid waterspouts and never try to navigate near them.
Move to safe harbor or shelter immediately until the threat passes.
