...A SPECIAL MARINE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 600 PM CDT...
For the following areas...
Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Maurepas...
At 503 PM CDT, a cluster of severe thunderstorms were located along a
line extending from 20 nm west of Manchac to near Lake Maurepas to 7
nm southeast of Lake Pontchartrain/Lake Maurepas, moving south at 20
knots.
HAZARD...Wind gusts in excess of 50 knots.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Boats could suffer significant structural damage in high
winds. Small craft could capsize in suddenly higher waves.
Locations impacted include...
Manchac, Lake Pontchartrain/Lake Maurepas, Orleans Marina,
Mandeville, Lake Maurepas, The Mid Point Of The Causeway Bridge, and
Kenner.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Dangerous high winds and suddenly higher waves are expected! Seek
shelter or move to safe harbor immediately!
Frequent lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the
open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded
metal objects.
