Survey Summary:
A brief tornado of unknown strength was confirmed using videos
from social media, broadcast media, and local officials. Based on
this information combined with radar data, a very weak tornado
occurred west of Patriot, Indiana in eastern Switzerland County.

The tornadic circulation was fully condensed from the cloud base
to the ground and exhibited sustained rotation. In addition to
this, the updraft of the thunderstorm exhibited rotation,
increasing confidence that this was not a landspout. The tornado
was contained within heavily forested areas, limiting access for
ground surveys. This resulted in no confirmed damage. While the
tornado is being confirmed with unknown strength, the evidence
from radar and the provided videos indicate the tornado was likely
very weak and short lived. The exact location is approximated
based on radar and geo-location techniques.

The National Weather Service would like to thank the Switzerland
County Indiana Emergency Management Agency for their assistance
and coordination with this damage survey.
