At 653 PM CDT, a cluster of severe thunderstorms capable of producing
waterspouts were located along a line extending from 8 nm west of
Pass Christian to 15 nm southeast of Rigolets, moving west at 15
knots.
HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts in excess of 50 knots.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Waterspouts can quickly form and capsize boats...damage
vessels and oil rigs...and create suddenly higher waves.
Boats could suffer significant structural damage in high
winds. Small craft could capsize in suddenly higher waves.
Locations impacted include...
Rigolets.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
