Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Wilmington OH
301 PM EDT Tue Jun 10 2025

.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure remains intact through the majority of the work week,
keeping the forecast dry. Temperatures will be near normal to start
the week, trending back above normal by midweek. A more active
pattern is expected heading into the weekend.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...
Cu field will dissolve later this evening, resulting in most clear
skies overnight. With the clearer skies and light southwesterly flow,
some fog development is expected, especially along the river valleys.
Best potential for overland fog will be in the lower Scioto Valley
and north-central KY tonight, so included a mention there. Further
northwest, dewpoint depressions increase to around 5 degrees, which
decreases fog potential.

&&

.SHORT TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT/...
Smoke from the Canadian wildfires may still provide some hazy skies
across the Ohio Valley on Wednesday, but the HRRR smoke model does
highlight a decreasing trend in the vertically integrated smoke. Cu
field expected to be less pronounced compared to Tuesday, so expect
plenty of sunshine throughout the day.

Overnight lows will be a few degrees milder Wednesday night as
dewpoints/humidity levels increase. Most locations will remain above
the 60 degree mark. River valley fog will certainly be possible once
again.

&&

.LONG TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/...
Mid level ridging will shift east across the region Thursday into
Friday. This will lead to mainly dry conditions and a bit of a
warming trend. Highs on Thursday will be in the mid 80s, warming
slightly to highs in the mid to upper 80s for Friday.

A weakening upper level trough and an associated weak surface wave
will progress slowly east across the Ohio Valley through the
weekend. This will result in occasional chances for showers and a
few thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday, with some diurnal enhancement
likely as we weakly destabilize through the afternoons. A chance of
showers and a few thunderstorms will continue for Monday and Tuesday
as a secondary upper level short wave and an associated cold front
approaches from the west. Highs will be in the lower to mid 80s
Monday and Tuesday.

&&

.AVIATION /19Z TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/...
VFR conditions expected for most terminals through the taf period.
Primary exception is at KLUK with similar vsby reductions tonight due
to valley fog. Most of the overland fog is likely to remain southeast
of the remaining terminals, but there is a low chance at KILN, so
introduced at TEMPO MVFR vsby reduction here.

Winds remain out of the west-southwest through the period. During the
daytime today and tomorrow, sustained winds increase to near 10 kts
with gusts near 20 kts. At night, winds will decrease to near or
below 5 kts.

Hazy skies aloft continue from wildfire smoke. Cu will primarily be
diurnal, with additional cu possible tomorrow.

OUTLOOK...Storms will be possible Friday night and Saturday.
