...The National Weather Service in Indianapolis IN has issued a
Flood Warning for the following rivers in Indiana...
White River at Noblesville.
White River near Nora.
...Forecast flooding changed from Minor to Moderate severity and
increased in duration for the following rivers in Indiana...
White River near Centerton.
...Forecast flooding changed from Moderate to Major severity and
increased in duration for the following rivers in Indiana...
White River at Petersburg.
White River at Edwardsport.
White River at Hazleton.
.Significant and some major flooding is expected to develop
along the White River due to several rounds of heavy rainfall
through Sunday. Wednesday night rainfall of generally two to three
inches fell across the White basin. Additional rainfall of three to
five inches in the upper and middle White and five to seven inches
in the lower White is expected through Sunday morning, and this is
all included in today's forecasts.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

* IMPACTS...At 18.5 feet, Water begins to flood Strawtown Avenue one
mile northwest of Strawtown.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 11:45 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 9.5 feet.
- Forecast...The river will rise to 12.5 feet tomorrow morning.
It will then fall to 11.7 feet early Saturday morning. It
will rise above flood stage early Saturday afternoon to 18.5
feet early Monday morning. It will then fall again but remain
above flood stage.

floor flooding near White River at East 116th Street and in
Ravenswood. River Edge roads flood.

- At 12:00 PM EDT Thursday the stage was 6.8 feet.
- Forecast...The river will rise to 10.4 feet early tomorrow
afternoon. It will then fall to 9.9 feet Saturday morning. It
will rise above flood stage Saturday evening to 16.4 feet
Monday morning. It will then fall again but remain above
flood stage.

* WHERE...White River near Centerton.
* WHEN...From this afternoon until further notice.
* IMPACTS...At 17.8 feet, Flood waters cover the flood plain along
SR 39 connecting SRs 37 and 67 just southwest of Martinsville.
Flooding causes the evacuation of a few homes and damages Blue
Bluff Road near IPL Power Plant. Local river roads are impassable.

- At 12:00 PM EDT Thursday the stage was 12.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river will oscillate above flood stage with a
maximum value of 16.8 feet Sunday evening.

* WHAT...Major flooding is forecast. This approaches the flood of
record.
* WHERE...White River at Petersburg.
* WHEN...From this afternoon until further notice.
* IMPACTS...At 27.0 feet, A near record flood is in progress. Water
level is at a height approached in June 2008 and exceeded in
January 2005. Evacuations are necessary. River cabins are
destroyed. Great damage occurs to rural county road system. SR 56
begins to flood in the Bowman area. Flooding may damage railroads.
Flood waters overtop almost all levees in the Petersburg area.

- At 11:45 AM EDT Thursday /10:45 AM CDT Thursday/ the stage
was 15.4 feet.
- Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage this
afternoon to 27.6 feet early Tuesday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 25.0 feet, A possibly serious flood is in progress.
Evacuations required of those in river cabins and in northeast
Edwardsport. Flood levels are at critical levels. All roads
except U.S. Highway 50 flood. Rail traffic halts near Elnora.
Water level is at critical levels on levees. Local officials
monitor levees.

- At 7:00 AM EDT Thursday /6:00 AM CDT Thursday/ the stage was
11.7 feet.
- Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage just after
midnight tonight to 24.9 feet Monday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 29.0 feet, During the January 2005 flood as the river
rose over 29 feet...many boils occurred in the Hazleton levee.
Extensive sandbagging was required to prevent levee failure.

to 29.4 feet Tuesday evening.
