...New NEAR TERM, LONG TERM, MARINE...

.NEAR TERM...
(Now through Wednesday)
Issued at 405 AM CST Tue Feb 4 2025

The fog has arrived and is here to stay. We usually go one or two
weeks in the winter where we just get socked in with fog for a
while and it appears this is that week. The overall pattern will
not change much over the next couple of days with ridging
remaining in place over the southern Gulf. The upper low over the
southwestern gulf will remain stuck there for the foreseeable
future waiting for its turn to merge back into the main flow. As
mentioned, fog will be about all we get out of this for the next
few days and with most of the area socked in with dense fog we
expect multiple days of dense fog advisories. Temperatures will
continue to be on the warm side with highs climbing into the mid
70s and potentially upper 70s inland by Wednesday. BB-8

.LONG TERM...
(Thursday through Monday)
Issued at 405 AM CST Tue Feb 4 2025

Ridging in the lower levels maintains a grip on the local area
through early Sunday as an upper level ridge remains parked to our
south. A front draped across the Mid-South on Thursday will sag
further into the Deep South on Friday, but should stall north of the
area as the surface high over the western Atlantic maintains control
over the local area. Isolated showers are possible in the afternoon
hours on Thursday and Friday as moisture continues to stream into
the area in the onshore flow regime. That said, most of the area
should stay dry both days. Saturday remains dry in this pattern.

The pattern changes as we roll into Sunday. An upper level low
that's been drifting over the western Gulf since mid-week will
finally lift toward the northern Gulf Coast on Sunday. At the same
time, a cold front slides overhead through the day on Sunday. Rain
chances increase along and ahead of this front. This opens the door
for what appears to be a much more active weather pattern for next
week.

In the meantime, patchy dense fog over land and the coastal waters
will be the predominant weather concern in the overnight and early
morning hours through Friday. 07/mb

.MARINE...
Issued at 405 AM CST Tue Feb 4 2025

Areas of dense fog have develop across nearshore waters, Mobile
Bay and the Mississippi sound tonight and will likely persist each
night through midweek. Light onshore flow will prevail through
the week with no other impacts to the marine areas expected. BB-8
