.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 100 PM EST Sat Feb 1 2025

Weak high pressure ridging has allowed skies to partially clear
today, although high clouds are moving in from the west ahead of
the next weather system. It will remain dry through this
evening, but light precipitation could arrive by daybreak
Sunday. This could start out as snow or freezing rain with
temperatures near freezing, which could impact anyone taking to
the roads in the morning. Warm air advection will then quickly
warm the airmass, thus changing it over to rain, with very
little if any snow accumulation. The rain should then move out
by mid-afternoon, leaving highs in the 40s.

Dry conditions will hold through Monday with the return of weak
ridging, and temperatures will warm further into the upper 40s
to 50s. A weak shortwave will then cross the area on Monday
night in near zonal flow. Most models keep the region dry,
except for the NAM, which brings light precip. Have kept the
forecast dry for now with the main impact from the disturbance
being cooler temperatures for Tuesday.

The next good chance for precipitation will be Wednesday into
Thursday as gulf moisture moves up from the southwest and phases
with better troughing from the north. Depending on how this
evolves, it could bring hazardous weather in the form of some
light freezing rain on Wednesday morning due to warm air
advection aloft over the colder surface temperatures. This
could last into Wednesday night north of US 30. Drier weather is
then expected by Thursday afternoon into Friday, with low
chances for a rain/snow mix on Saturday.

.AVIATION /00Z TAFS THROUGH 00Z MONDAY/...
Issued at 522 PM EST Sat Feb 1 2025

Remaining dry conditions this evening ahead of incoming
shortwave disturbance will produce VFR conditions through 10z
Sun. As the disturbance and accompanying warm front arrives
between 11z to 12z Sun, MVFR conditions will develop with
lowered cigs/vsbys as precipitation in the form of snow showers
at the onset before quickly becoming a mix of rain/snow before
turning mostly to rain between 14z and 15z Sun. Some periods of
IFR will be possible in the heavier showers. Winds will also
temporarily become gusty with the frontal passage with
southeasterly gusts up to 25 kts possible. Cigs will begin to
gradually improve after 21z in the wake of the disturbance.
