.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 203 AM CST Thu Jan 23 2025
Mainly dry conditions with noticeable temperature fluctuations
will be the main concern for the next seven days. Today will
see a polar cold front sweep through the region. This feature is
moisture-starved, but looking at upstream observations, there
appears to be just enough low-level lift and moisture for some
flurries or light snow showers. Have included this light, non-
impactful snow in today's forecast for the majority of the
region. Skies will clear tonight as front exits the region. In
the wake of the front, 850 mb temperatures will fall to the -10
to -14C range, which will again result in low temperatures
tonight in the 10-20F range and high temperatures Friday of
25-35F.
This cold period will be brief as the synoptic pattern will
switch to a milder, zonal flow. This will bring a return of
temperatures close to normal values this weekend and even above
normal temperatures early next week by 5-10F. The subtropical
jet stream will be active during this period, but the overall
zonal pattern will keep mentionable precipitation chances
generally south of the region. A stray rain or snow shower may
reach the southern KY Pennyrile Sunday night, but any
precipitation that falls will be very light. Another system with
a bit more moisture may lift north into the area by the
Wednesday period, but any precipitation that falls looks to be
light rain at this time.

.AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z FRIDAY/...
Issued at 1119 AM CST Thu Jan 23 2025
Looking at satellite and observations, expecting some broken to
scattered top end MVFR to low end VFR cigs to move through over
the next several hours. Winds will continue to be out of the
west to northwest this afternoon before going light and variable
or calm overnight. Tomorrow should be a mainly clear day with
light and variable winds in the morning.
