Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service New Orleans LA
1224 PM CDT Fri Oct 11 2024

...New AVIATION...

.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Saturday)
Issued at 333 AM CDT Fri Oct 11 2024

Short term has a small warming trend in it as some areas will mainly
be in the upper 80s but a few around 90F. But still dry and nice
temp-wise during mornings and evenings.

&&

.LONG TERM...
(Saturday night through Thursday)
Issued at 333 AM CDT Fri Oct 11 2024

The dry warming conditions will remain into Monday which should be
our hottest day as highs should reach the lower 90s for the most
area compared to the weekend. But even this will abruptly come to an
end as a cold front will move into the area with some rather strong
CAA and more DAA. This will cool highs down to the 70s for Tue and
lows could be in the 40s for the northern most tier of
counties/parishes by Wed morning. This air mass will slowly modify
as well once we move into mid to late next week. No rain with this
front either, only the good stuff.

&&

.AVIATION...
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 1220 PM CDT Fri Oct 11 2024

Clear skies and light northeasterly winds continue to prevail and
VFR one liners are being held through the period. Will monitor for
non-zero fog potential along rivers, but no indication these will
impact terminals tonight.

&&

.MARINE...
Issued at 333 AM CDT Fri Oct 11 2024

NE winds will remain over all waters through Sunday with speeds
around 10kt then becoming light and variable as sfc high pressure
sits right over the northern gulf by late Sunday through Monday. A
cold front should move over the northern gulf bringing NE winds of
15-20kt late Monday night into Tue. These winds will slowly come
around to an easterly direction through the rest of the week while
holding the same speed.
