.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 159 AM CDT Mon Oct 7 2024

In the wake of the passage of a cold front, surface high
pressure will translate south and east from the northern Great
Plains and settle over our area. Aloft, zonal NW flow will be
prevalent through much of the upcoming week. Temperatures today
through Wednesday will be near normal values, with highs in the
lower to middle 70s and overnight lows in the middle to upper
40s.

For the latter half of the week, the surface high pressure
will shift east of the region. As southerly return flow
increases and H5/H8 heights rise, a minor warming trend is
expected. High temperatures will warm into the upper 70s to
lower 80s for highs in the Thursday through Sunday period, with
overnight lows falling into the middle to upper 50s.

While no rainfall is expected this week, some long range model
guidance is hinting at a transition to a slightly more active
pattern for next week, which may yield some mentionable rainfall
chances and perhaps some more variations in temperatures.
