.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 128 AM CDT Sun Oct 6 2024

Early this morning, a cold front extended from southeast WI to
north central MO back into central KS. This front will progress
southeast and into our region by midday to early afternoon. By
sunset, the front should be south of our area into TN and AR.
Ahead of the front, winds will become west. Plenty of sunshine
is forecast today, with a few clouds possible this afternoon.
The sun, combined with the westerly (then northwest) trajectory
along and ahead of the front will push temperatures up to
values similar to yesterday. Raised our highs by 2 to 4 degrees
toward the 50th-75th percentile off the NBM, as we typically
get a little higher with temperatures in this scenario. Despite
temperatures running around 10 degrees above average, or even
slightly higher, we should fall just short of records. Highs
will range from the mid 80s around I-64 to upper 80s, possibly
90 farther south into SEMO and west KY.

High pressure takes control of our weather tonight and persists
for the next several days. It will be dry this week and into
next weekend. Temperatures will be slightly below average to
start the work week, followed by a return to near normal values.
Highs in the 70s, with lows mid 40s to lower 50s.

during the day Sunday before decreasing after sunset.
