Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Paducah KY
613 PM CDT Tue Oct 1 2024

.KEY MESSAGES...

- An isolated shower chance lingers in the east as a cold front
  completes its passage.

- Cooler/drier air comes in behind the front for the mid week,
then we warm back into the 80s for the week's end.

- Another dry cold front's passage late this weekend will cool
us back into the lower 70s again for early next work week.

.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 100 PM CDT Tue Oct 1 2024

A cold front is making passage. Satellite reveals the progress
of the dry air it will bring in behind it...dew points in the
upper 30s across northern MO are headed this way. We'll finally
scour these clouds out as we drop into the 40s tonight, with
sunshine and coolish 70s tmrw, before we warm back up with some
80s returning to the forecast for the week's end.

It looks like the formerly watched for Friday front is
increasingly ambiguous, kinda washing out upon approach now. So
we'll await the weekend trof and its passage, which drives a
more robust but still dry cold front across the FA Sunday night.
It does something very similar...taking dew points in the 60s
and drying them down into the 40s, or near 50F. And temps cool
back into the 70s with another high pressure system building
across the Ohio Valley. The tropical interactions we've been
watching appear to stay there, so we're now looking at an
extended dry/seasonal pattern that may well hold into/thru much
of next week.

.AVIATION /00Z TAFS THROUGH 00Z WEDNESDAY/...
Issued at 613 PM CDT Tue Oct 1 2024

The TAFs are VFR. Northwest winds may gust to around 15kts for
an hour or two, but should calm down to around 5kts for the rest
of the night. The persistent light breeze and much drier air
across the region should prevent any fog development tonight.
