.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 223 AM CDT Tue Oct 1 2024

Satellite shows mid level clouds across portions of the area
this morning. This has inhibited widespread dense fog
development although a few sites are reporting fog in areas that
have cleared out. Any fog should clear out shortly after
sunrise. A front will make its way through the area today
bringing a drier and more seasonal airmass. Highs will range
from the mid 70's across the west, to lower 80's across the
east. Can't rule out an isolated shower this afternoon along the
front across far eastern portions of the forecast area.

Surface high pressure pushes in from the west behind the front
keeping conditions dry and cool this week. Highs in the 70's
will be common Wed and Thu with overnight lows in the 40's
tonight and Wed night. Temperatures warm up a bit beginning Thu
night and on Friday ahead of another front. Timing of when this
front makes its way through is still uncertain. Not seeing much
in the way of rain chances with this front so the forecast will
remain dry through the weekend. Yet another front may push
through the region late in the extended bringing much cooler and
continued dry conditions.

.AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z WEDNESDAY/...
Issued at 1156 PM CDT Mon Sep 30 2024

Skies have cleared over much of the area, and IFR or lower fog
has quickly developed. Unfortunately, guidance indicates that
ceilings should redevelop in the 4-7kft layer overnight which
would kill off any fog that has developed. Decided to play it
with a prevailing MVFR visibility and BCFG at all sites
overnight. North northwest winds should increase as surface high
pressure surges through the area late in the morning through the
afternoon. Some gusts 15-20kts will be possible through the
afternoon. We should keep enough wind in the evening to prevent
a repeat of the fog development.
