The National Weather Service in Norton has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southeastern Kent County in Rhode Island...
  Newport County in Rhode Island...
  Washington County in Rhode Island...

* Until 715 PM EDT.

* At 321 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 2 inches of 
  rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are 
  possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected 
  to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Rapid rises of small creeks and streams, as well as
           flash flooding of urban areas, highways, streets and
           underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-
           lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Warwick, Coventry, South Kingstown, West Warwick, North Kingstown, 
  Newport, Bristol, Westerly, Portsmouth, Middletown, Narragansett, 
  Tiverton, East Greenwich, Hopkinton, Charlestown, Richmond, 
  Exeter, West Greenwich, Jamestown and Little Compton.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.
