.FORECAST UPDATE...
Issued at 926 PM EDT Sun Oct 25 2026

Not much has changed to the ongoing forecast as the synoptic pattern
remains stagnant with surface high pressure and broad ridging aloft.
There has been a slow progression eastward of the trough over the
Western CONUS, of which has increased upper level cloud cover across
the state. Indiana is still on the eastern periphery of the large
concentration of upper cloud cover leading to a slightly tricky
forecast overnight.

The latest update kept the ongoing forecast thoughts with the
western half of central Indiana remaining slightly warmer due to
greater cloud cover and the eastern half cooling to near saturation
by tomorrow morning. This will likely lead to patchy fog, especially
within the White and East Fork White River Valleys. The Wabash
Valley may also see some fog, but the density and coverage is
expected to be less.

.DISCUSSION (This evening through Sunday)...
Issued at 232 PM EDT Sun Oct 25 2026

Rest of This Afternoon through Tuesday...

High clouds and some mid clouds will continue to spill across an
upper ridge through Tuesday, bringing partly cloudy conditions at
times.

The ridge itself will get pushed south a bit by upper waves well to
the north of the local area. This will allow a surface cold front to
sag south into central Indiana later Monday into Monday night. This
front will get pulled back north as a low pressure system moves into
Minnesota on Tuesday. With minimal moisture and little or no
forcing, no rain is expected with the front.

The cooler air behind the front most likely won't reach into central
Indiana. Thus, expect highs in the 70s to continue with lows in the
40s. Patchy ground fog will develop near sunrise Monday and Tuesday
with light winds continuing. The fog may be muted by thicker cloud
cover though.

Wednesday through Friday...

A weakening upper wave will move northeast into the lower Great
Lakes Wednesday. This may bring additional clouds but again forcing
and moisture across central Indiana will be low enough to continue a
dry forecast.

A surface cold front will try and work south Thursday and Friday.
Guidance differs on how far south this front gets by late Friday.
With upper flow generally west to southwest ahead of another upper
wave, feel that the front will likely remain north of the area. Will
continue a dry forecast and go with the warmer guidance.

This means that highs will continue to be in the 70s, with perhaps
some upper 70s for parts of the area.

Halloween Weekend...

Any lingering upper ridging will exit as multiple upper troughs move
through next weekend. Uncertainty remains high on the details, but
for now it appears that the best forcing and moisture will arrive
overnight Saturday night into Sunday morning, with only low chances
for rain during Halloween evening events.

If the front remains north, highs will be in the 70s. However, a
more southern front as well as any rain would keep readings lower,
especially on Sunday.

.AVIATION (00Z TAF Issuance)...
Issued at 629 PM EDT Sun Oct 25 2026

Impacts:

- Ground fog possible between 09-13Z Monday morning, MVFR and worse
possible

Discussion:

Outside of any ground fog early Monday, VFR conditions are expected
through the period.

High clouds will continue to push through this evening through
tomorrow with coverage between scattered and broken. Some mid level
clouds may develop tomorrow, as increased moisture arrives from the
west. Upper level cloud cover may mitigate ground fog some, but
patchy MVFR VIS is possible between 09-13Z at KLAF and KHUF.  Cannot
rule it out at KBMG as well.

Winds will remain light. A shift to a more northerly direction will
occur at KLAF later Monday and at KIND Monday evening.
