.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 426 AM EDT Mon Oct 5 2026
Pretty uneventful period this week with the biggest impacts
being the cool, brisk mornings with patches of light fog/mist
possible each morning. The coldest morning is expected overnight
tonight into Tuesday morning with lows in the low 40s to upper
30s especially north of US-6. A few patches of light frost
especially on metal vehicles or roof tops may be possible in
these same areas but at this time dew points look to stay warm
enough for mainly dew covering of surfaces. Will continue to
monitor as stated previously if a bit drier airmass is able to
push far enough south into the area that lower lows would be
possible. Still stressing that if you have temperature sensitive
plants/animals it would be best to protect them out of an
abundance of caution.
Dry conditions continue through the work week and next chances
of precipitation look to come by late weekend. High
temperatures this week will start out below normal and trend
warmer through the week to more slightly above normal levels
(low to mid 70s). Just for reference current normal high
temperatures at Fort Wayne is currently at 69 degrees and 67 for
South Bend.
