JEFFERSON...CENTRAL ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST AND NORTHEASTERN ST. CHARLES
PARISHES UNTIL 730 PM CDT...

At 702 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a line of showers extending
from 9 miles northwest of New Orleans to 7 miles northeast of
Laplace, moving south at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph along the immediate coast.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
  New Orleans, Kenner, Metairie, Hahnville, Laplace, Jefferson,
  Harahan, River Ridge, St. Rose, Ama, Waggaman, Elmwood, Destrehan,
  New Sarpy, Bridge City, Norco and Taft.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening
weather conditions.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
