Survey Summary:
An NWS ground survey confirmed an EF-0 tornado touched down in a
parking lot south of West Thomas Street (US 190) west of downtown
Hammond, LA in Tangipahoa Parish. This tornado tracked south-
southwest causing minor tree damage and collapse of an exterior
wall of a small professional building near Robinhood Drive. The
damage path remained sparse with only threshold of visible damage
and minor tree damage noted as the tornado continued southward
across Interstate 55. Some additional EF-0 damage was identified
near Stein Rd and Saint Rd before the tornado evidently lifted
prior to Old Baton Rouge Hwy. Evidence of this tornado was also
supported by eyewitness video and a brief tornado debris signature
on KHDC radar imagery. Additional revisions to this track are
possible with the supplementation of additional reports and/or
satellite data in the coming weeks.
