Issued at 130 PM CDT Tue Jul 2 2024
Mostly VFR conditions continue through the period. Local
reductions to ceilings and visibilities will be possible around
any thunderstorms that may develop this afternoon. Showers and
storms are also expected to redevelop again early Wednesday
morning along the coast. Another round of low ceilings may also
develop again towards the end of the period over interior portions
of the area. Light southeasterly winds prevail. /14

.NEAR TERM...
(Now through Wednesday)
Issued at 130 PM CDT Tue Jul 2 2024
The forecast remains on track this afternoon with hot and very
humid conditions occurring. Temperatures have risen into the
lower and middle 90s in most areas and will likely climb a couple
more degrees as we go through the rest of the afternoon. Surface
observations are also reporting heat index values between 106-112
degrees as of 12:30pm. Therefore, a Heat Advisory remains in
effect until 7pm today for all but our far northeastern zones
(Butler/Crenshaw AL counties) today where heat index values are
expected to remain just below criteria. The radar has remained
mostly dry so far today with only an isolated storm developing out
of the Gulf Waters early this morning. Although, that will begin
to change with isolated to scattered showers and storms expected
to develop along the seabreeze and gradually spread inland over
the next several hours. Surface based CAPE values in excess of
3000 J/KG and downdraft CAPE values in excess of 1000 J/KG could
aid in a few storm cells capable of producing strong to localized
damaging gusts. Storms could also be efficient rainfall producers
with precipitable water values around 2 inches. Isolated to
scattered convection should linger into the early evening hours
before diminishing. /21/14
