.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 204 PM EDT Tue Aug 26 2025
Ongoing lake moisture flux in cool/perturbed northwest flow once
again enough to generate diurnal cumulus deep enough for isolated
showers this afternoon (10-30%). Coverage and intensity will be more
limited when compared to yesterday given a slightly drier boundary
layer.
Quiet wx for tonight and Wednesday as shortwave ridging overspreads
and a ~1025 mb sfc high tracks east into the Mid MS/OH Valleys.
Light, backed, westerly flow overtop will provide some WAA with
highs a few degrees warmer (mid 70s).
Round of pre-frontal theta-e advection, within a 30 kt low level
jet, brings the next opportunity for showers to mainly northern
zones late Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Cold front then
slides south through the area Wednesday afternoon-early evening with
additional shower chances. There may even be just enough heating and
moisture pooling along the front to generate a few embedded storms.
More pronounced deeper forcing/fgen does bypass north-northeast of
the area keeping chances for measurable rain capped in the 40-70%
range, highest near the Michigan state line.
Cooler and drier air will funnel in for Friday, with an expansive
low level anticyclone to dominate for the holiday weekend. This high
pressure system will provide the area with ample sunshine, low
humidity, light winds and gradual air mass moderation. The next
amplifying trough and cold front likely arrives by the middle of
next week with then next chance for rain.
