.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 141 AM CDT Fri Aug 8 2025

A 500mb ridge will build northeastward over the coming days
engulfing the eastern U.S. this weekend. Meanwhile, an upper low
over the Northern Rockies will slowly slide east into the Northern
Plains and Southern Canada this weekend. This will set up a trough
axis over the Central Plains early in the week that will slowly
pivot east. As it does so, a cold front may attempt to sink south
towards our area Tuesday or Wednesday providing focus for scattered
showers and storms to develop. The increased cloud cover and
convection around may allow slightly cooler temperatures during this
period with highs primarily in the upper 80s compared to low 90s.

Guidance suggests that upper level heights may rise again later in
the week as a broad ridge amplifies across the Ohio Valley heading
into the weekend of Aug 16-17. This may tend to limit convective
chances and allow temperatures to rise back into the low 90s.
