.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 331 AM CDT Mon May 19 2025

We will start off the week dry but some light rain chances do
arrive by Tuesday night as a front moves through the area.
Shortwave ridging will be in place today into Tuesday in advance
of a rather deep upper trough over the Central US. With ridging in
place, subsidence will prevail leading to warm and dry conditions
today through Tuesday. We really don't see much change until
Tuesday night as the upper trough finally ejects across the Ohio
River valley allowing for a weak cool front to push south across
the area Tuesday night into early Wednesday. Unfortunately,
forcing from this upper trough will likely be well removed from
the area and what storms do make it to our area will likely be on
the weakening trend on approach. Overall, rain chances may be
scattered at best as the front pushes through and given rather
poor ascent and arriving overnight, strong to severe storms will
likely be limited at best. Other than those rain chances, patchy
fog will continue to be lingering around; however, high clouds
moving in from the west may keep fog chances rather isolated and
confined to areas east of I-65.

Generally westerly to northwesterly flow continues mid to late week
into the weekend on the backside of the upper trough. A cold front
pushes across the area Wednesday morning into early afternoon
bringing a somewhat cooler, drier airmass to round out the week into
the weekend. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible Wednesday
morning into afternoon prior to the front moving through, with best
coverage along and east of the I-65 corridor. Rain chances gradually
taper into the afternoon Wednesday as the front begins to exit the
area. Beyond this, the forecast remains dry as surface high pressure
settles in across the eastern CONUS. Temperatures will be warm to
start in the upper 80's to lower 90's Wednesday, but cool off to the
middle to upper 80's to round out the work week before warming back
up into the weekend. Overnight lows also cool to the upper 50's and
lower 60's rounding out the week before returning to middle to upper
60's over the weekend. A Moderate risk of rip currents will continue
Wednesday into Thursday. MM/25

.AVIATION...
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 615 AM CDT Mon May 19 2025

A mixed bag of VFR, MVFR and LIFR conditions as patchy fog has
developed mainly east of I-65 and north of interstate 10 this
morning. Visibilities should improve over the next hour or so
with VFR conditions returning to the area. MVFR to IFR ceilings
should develop tonight with MVFR west of I-65 and IFR east of
I-65. Some patchy fog may also develop over the same areas as this
morning leading to LIFR visbys. Winds will remain light out of
the south. BB-8
