...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Indiana...
East Fork White River from Rivervale through Shoals.
White River from Elliston through Hazleton.
.Major flooding continues on the lower White from Edwardsport to
Hazleton, with moderate flooding remaining at Elliston and Newberry.
The crest on the White was past Edwardsport and approaching
Petersburg late Friday morning. Flooding will come to an end over
the weekend at Elliston and Newberry but continue through next week
at Petersburg and Hazleton and into the week of April 20.
Major flooding also continues on the East Fork White River at Shoals
and the crest is just past there. Moderate flooding continues from
Rivervale through Williams. Flooding on the lower portions of the
East Fork White will continue until mid-week.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.
Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most flood related deaths
occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges,
dips, or low water crossings. Never try to cross a flowing stream,
even a small one, on foot. To escape rising water find another route
over higher ground.

* WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* WHERE...East Fork White River at Shoals.
* WHEN...Until late Wednesday evening.
* IMPACTS...At 30.1 feet, During the March 2008 flood, SR 550
extensively flooded on the left bank of the river bridge. One
county road on the left bank is totally submerged and another near
the hill is barely visible. The south bound lane on the right bank
of the river is barely passable, but once over the bridge it ends
in deep, fast flowing flood water. There is no Hindostan Falls,
just a very big river. Water near SR 550 just before turn off to
the Falls. One farmer must boat into his house.

Bottom Road at the bridge of the river on the left bank. Stumphole
Bottom Road flooded extensively at the railroad underpass as one
approached Williams. Backwater near Stumphole Road close to its
junction with Twins Pond Road. Twins Pond Road floods during times
of heavy rain, but not because of the river.

level is at a height approached in June 2008 and exceeded in
January 2005. Evacuations are necessary. River cabins are
destroyed. Great damage occurs to rural county road system. SR 56
begins to flood in the Bowman area. Flooding may damage railroads.
Flood waters overtop almost all levees in the Petersburg area.
