Survey Summary:
A brief EF-1 tornado was confirmed in Edwardsburg, MI on March
30th, 2025. The tornado started in a field west of Conrad Rd,
snapping and uprooting trees as it moved northeast towards the
Edwardsburg Primary School, where EF-0 damage was noted. The
tornado continued to the northeast and intensified, where several
homes and businesses sustained damage on the east side of
Pleasant Lake. The Starboard Choice Marina building sustained
roof damage, a boat lift and dock were removed from the lake and
flipped over, and a few boats were damaged as well, including one
that was flipped and lifted over a fence. The most intense damage
was seen along Dailey Road, where numerous large trees were
snapped and uprooted, with estimated wind speeds of 100 mph.
Overall, the tornado was on the ground for 3 minutes and had a
peak intensity of EF-1. There were also areas of straightline
wind damage noted throughout Edwardsburg, indicative that the
tornado was likely embedded within the line of storms that moved
through.
Additional areas of damage that have been surveyed are below:
.Kosciusko county microburst...
Sporadic tree and barn building damage was noted along a line
from 2 miles southwest of Clunette to Milford. Numerous center
pivot irrigation systems were also flipped. Surveyed damage was
consistent with up to an estimated 75 mph winds.
.LaPorte county microburst...
NWS and EMA officials completed a survey of damage in the Kingsford
Heights and Fish Lake areas of LaPorte county. The damage was
largely comprised of tree damage, but there was also a few power
poles down, some roof damage to a home, and a toppled center pivot.
Surveyed damage was consistent with straight lined winds reaching
an estimated 70 to 80 mph winds.
.St Joseph County, IN straightline winds...
An NWS survey team found damage consistent with straightline winds
in far northern St Joseph County, IN in Granger. Minor roof damage
was noted, powerlines were downed, and numerous trees were snapped
and uprooted, consistent with peak wind speeds of 80-90 mph.
.Lagrange County, IN to St Joseph County, MI...
The NWS and EMA officials are continuing to review data in the areas
of Scott, IN and Sturgis, MI. Damage was inconclusive as to whether
a tornado touched down so it will preliminarily be ruled as straightline
wind damage. Additional details will be forthcoming as damage is
further reviewed.
