.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 308 AM EDT Tue Mar 25 2025
A weakening synoptic gradient has pushed in and the winds have
subsided from the gusty conditions yesterday and many areas
overnight will see nearly calm conditions. This along with reduced
cloud cover low temperatures overnight will drop to the mid 20s to
low 30s across the area. Mid level troughing over the Great Lakes
region continues to sit firmly in place and will allow weak
disturbances to continue to round the base of the trough. Another
disturbance today will drop southeasterly but the main energy will
pass mostly to the south of our CWA. Our southern and western
portions of the CWA may see a few light sprinkles/showers. Elsewhere
the only noticeable impact will be a slight uptick in northwest
winds with gusts of 15 to 20 mph at times and an increase in cloud
cover. Mostly dry conditions with seasonal temperatures expected
today through Wednesday across the area with highs in the mid 40s to
low 50s and lows in the mid 20s to lower 30s each morning.
High amplitude ridging over the central CONUS begins to push
eastward and a more zonal flow aloft develops across the region.
A more southerly to southwesterly flow arrives near the surface
which will begin to bring a more moist airmass into the area.
Dew points on Thursday will go from the low 20s early in the morning
to upper 30s to low 40s by the evening. This moist influx will
continue Friday into the weekend with dew points in the upper 50s.
This increase in moisture will increase chances for rain showers
into the weekend across the area. The southerly flow will also bring
warmer temperatures. Thursday high temperatures will get into the
upper 50s to low 60s.
Further warming will take place on Friday with highs getting into
the 70s for many parts of the area except slightly cooler in
northwest OH and southern MI counties. A few locations in our
southwestern portions of the CWA will see upper 70s perhaps.
Highs on Saturday and Sunday will be in the With the periods of rain
showers a few embedded thunderstorms will be possible Friday through
Sunday. SPC has marginal severe storms forecast for early Friday
morning, mainly west parts of our area and over IA, IL, and northern
MO. On Sunday, a cool front approaching from the west will increase
chances for thunderstorms in which the SPC does have a swath of 15
percent chance of severe weather over our southern parts of the CWA
for Sunday. A lot of uncertainty still remains but we will continue
to monitor this situation as we get closer.
Post cool frontal passage we will see cooler temperatures
return to the area for the start of next week with highs back in
the 40s on next Monday and Tuesday.
