.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 244 AM CDT Wed Oct 23 2024

The weather will continue to be mainly dry and uneventful over
the next several days. A cold front will pass through the region
today, shifting winds around to the northwest. However, no
rainfall is expected. Similar to yesterday, highs today should
reach the upper 70s to lower 80s across most of the area. In the
wake of the front, temperatures tonight will drop into the 40s,
while highs on Thursday are limited to the 70s.

Another cold front is forecast to approach the region Thursday
night, then make passage Friday afternoon and evening. Forecast
models indicate somewhat better moisture and forcing with this
second front, so there's at least a small chance of showers on
Friday. However, better chances appear to be aligned across
northern/western portions of the area during the morning, with
lesser chances further south and east by afternoon and evening.
Any precipitation that does fall will be very light and
negligible in relation to the accumulating monthly deficit.

After a warm Friday with highs in the lower to middle 80s, more
seasonable temperatures are in store for the weekend in the
wake of Friday's cold frontal passage. Highs are forecast to
range from the middle 60s to lower 70s over the weekend, while
lows range from the upper 30s to lower 40s.

Early next week, a warming trend is expected as an upper level
ridge amplifies over the eastern U.S. and a trough progresses
slowly eastward across the western U.S. This will likely result
in much warmer than normal temperatures along with breezy/windy
conditions during the first half of the week.
