Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Wilmington OH
423 AM EDT Mon Oct 21 2024
.SYNOPSIS...
Dry and unseasonably warm conditions will continue through
midweek. A cold front will move through on Wednesday resulting
in a temporary cool down, with a warm up for the end of the
week. A second cold front will move through the region on
Friday, offering a chance for rain and cooler more seasonal
temperatures for the weekend.
&&
.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
A mid level ridge will build across the area with surface
high pressure centered just southeast of the area. This high
will keep a dry airmass over the region. River valley fog will
dissipate in the morning with sunny skies thru the afternoon.
The gradual warming trend will continue with highs in the mid
and upper 70s. These readings are 10 to 13 degrees above normal.
&&
.SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH 6 PM TUESDAY/...
Expansive mid level ridge to build across the area overnight and
then shift east Tuesday as a shortwave moves into the upper MS
Valley. Expect a few thin high level clouds tonight - thickening
some on Tuesday. Lows look to be milder tonight with lows
ranging from the lower 40s to the upper 40s. Warm temperatures
to continue with high in the mid and upper 70s Tuesday.
&&
.LONG TERM /TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY/...
Shortwave trough will begin to move through the Midwest region near
the start of the period. Additional cloud coverage can be expected
on Wednesday, but moisture/forcing remains fairly meager for any
rain development. Cold front will move through during the day
Wednesday, but not before temperatures climb into the middle to
upper 70s.
Brief cooldown occurs on Thursday, but temperatures will be near
seasonal normals. Temperatures climb back into the 70s for most on
Friday before another cold front moves through the region. Some rain
is possible with this front, but models are only showing a few
hundredths of QPF at the most.
A subtle cooldown occurs for the weekend, but temperatures primarily
remain around seasonal norms.
&&
.AVIATION /07Z MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...
Surface high pressure will offer clear skies and light winds.
River valley fog can be expected again overnight into Monday
morning. This will lead to some LIFR vsbys at KLUK. Otherwise,
clear skies and VFR conditions will prevail through the day and
into this evening.
OUTLOOK...No significant weather expected.
