.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 124 AM EDT Fri Oct 18 2024

Upper level ridging will persist over the region helping to support
a dominant surface high pressure into early next week. Hardly a
cloud in the sky can be found over the eastern CONUS given the
dry atmospheric environment in the low and mid levels and the
large scale subsidence. Temperatures will continue to recover
on the west side of the high pressure area. Large diurnal
temperatures ranges exceeding 30 degrees at times will continue
into early next week. Given the upper level blocking pattern, a
large upper low is expected to amplify south into Arizona and
become cut off there over the weekend. This system will
eventually eject northeast into a relatively dry environment.
Scattered showers are possible Tuesday into Wednesday, but
rainfall coverage and amounts will be limited and not likely to
have an impact on the worsening drought conditions. Chilly air
will make a brief return Thursday, but temperatures should not
fall much below normal. The coolest nights should be Wednesday
night and Thursday night before temperatures rise above normal
Friday.

.AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z SATURDAY/...
Issued at 115 AM EDT Fri Oct 18 2024

Strong subsidence and abundant dry air throughout the column
will ensure ideal aviation conditions through the period. Fog is
highly unlikely this morning given crossover temps in the upper
20s and expected low temps only in the mid 30s. Southerly winds
will remain below 10 kts through the period.
