NEAR TERM...
(Now through Monday night)
Issued at 333 PM CDT Sun Sep 8 2024

Upper troughing across the eastern CONUS gradually erodes while
generally zonal flow aloft prevails across the area. A remnant
surface boundary remains offshore during the period, helping to
keep us mostly rain free through Monday. Only spots that have a
shot at isolated to scattered rain showers will be near the
immediate coast. Likewise, expect increased cloud cover and cooler
temperatures to remain confined mostly towards the coast while
inland areas see warmer temperatures and less cloud cover. Inland
we should see highs topping out in the lower to middle 80's while
closer to the coast temperatures might get hung up in the lower
80's for highs. Overnight lows should warm as well going from the
lower and middle 60's across the interior tonight to middle to
upper 60's over the interior Monday night. Nearer the coast, we
remain steady state on lows in the upper 60's to lower 70's. A Low
risk of rip currents today and tonight become a Moderate risk by
Monday into Monday night. MM/25

SHORT AND LONG TERM...
(Tuesday through Sunday)
Issued at 333 PM CDT Sun Sep 8 2024

The main item of interest during the period is Potential Tropical
Cyclone 6 expected to be located over the west central Gulf on
Tuesday and is forecast to continue generally northward through
midweek. Please see the latest information from the National
Hurricane Center on this feature. Abundant tropical moisture flows
into the forecast area through Wednesday, then drier air is then
ushered into the area beginning Thursday night and into Friday.
Isolated to scattered showers and storms are expected on Tuesday,
potentially becoming numerous near the coast, then numerous to
widespread showers and storms follow for Wednesday, with very high
rain chances expected for Thursday. Locally heavy rainfall is
possible from Wednesday into Thursday, and a moderate risk of rip
currents on Tuesday will be followed by a high risk for Wednesday
and Thursday. Another concern is High Surf Advisory conditions may
be reached by Thursday and continue into Friday. For the
remainder of the period, mainly chance to good chance pops on
Friday taper to slight chance pops on Saturday, then dry
conditions prevail on Sunday. /29

MARINE...
Issued at 333 PM CDT Sun Sep 8 2024

A light to moderate northeasterly flow today shifts back to easterly
on Monday and Tuesday. We are closely monitoring Potential Tropical
Cyclone 6 in the far southwestern Gulf which may lead to increased
winds and waves mid to late week. Winds and seas will be higher near
scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms through the period.
