.AVIATION...
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 1256 PM CDT Thu Aug 29 2024

VFR conditions should generally prevail through the remainder of
the day and into tonight. Scattered to numerous showers and storms
are expected to continue developing across the area this afternoon,
with the best coverage over areas west of the Tombigbee River.
Expect brief reductions in visibility and ceilings in some of the
heavier activity. Rain chances decrease quickly during the evening
hours. Another round of scattered showers and storms should
develop offshore tomorrow morning and push into our coastal
counties as well as our southeast Mississippi counties. Along with
this activity, it is possible for an MVFR cloud deck to push in
as well. /96

.NEAR TERM...
(Now through Friday)
Issued at 1256 PM CDT Thu Aug 29 2024

A mid/upper ridge will continue over the region through the
period, and while a surface ridge extending from the Western
Atlantic across the Southeast States will persist, it is expected
to weaken slightly on Friday. This deep layer ridging will allow
high temperatures today to be about 3 to 5 degrees above normal
away from the coast, cooling slightly on Friday. Made slight
upward adjustments to the NBM for the high temperatures today and
Friday. Low temperatures tonight will be about 4 to 8 degrees
above normal most areas. Isolated showers and storms are expected
to develop around daybreak just off the coast and move into
Coastal Alabama to near Pensacola early this morning. Isolated to
scattered showers and storms will advance inland with the sea-
breeze through noon, become scattered to numerous this afternoon
across the entire, with the highest chances across our southwest
zones. Most convection across the area will mainly be suppressed
by midnight, followed by a similar pattern repeating itself on
Friday.

Highs today will again reach the mid 90s inland areas (low 90s at
the beaches) with heat indices as high as 107 degrees. Highs
Friday will range from 89 to 94 degrees inland areas (upper 80s at
the beaches). Lows tonight should range from 72 to 75 degrees
inland, and from 75 to 80 degrees closer to the coast. The risk of
rip currents looks to remain low through tonight, increasing to
moderate on Friday. /22
