At 956 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Mound City, or near Cairo, moving southeast at 10 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Cairo, La Center, Wickliffe, Mounds, Barlow, and Mound City.
This includes Interstate 57 in Illinois between Mile Markers 1 and 9.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until midnight CDT for
southern Illinois...western Kentucky...and southeastern Missouri.
