.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 147 AM CDT Sun Oct 25 2026

Upper-level ridging remains centered over the Quad State region
today into early next week, while a large area of surface high
pressure has firm control over the northeast. Highs will
continue to be in the mid to upper 70s with lows around the
mid-40s. Some early morning fog is possible near rivers and
lakes.

Early week, a disturbance moving from the Front Range to the
Northern Great Lakes will be well north of the Quad State
region. A second large surface high migrates from its current
position near Manitoba towards New England, reasserting high
pressure to our east midweek. Surface winds locally will be
light and generally out of the southeast, heavily influenced by
the eastern high. A midweek disturbance is likely to increase
high cloud coverage locally but keep precipitation northwest of
the CWA. Temporarily slightly disrupting the ridge locally,
ridging reforms for late week, keeping dry conditions forecast.

A trough digs into the western U.S. late week into next
weekend. While the main trough axis is centered further west, a
smaller scale negatively tilted trough crossing the Central
Plains Saturday is likely to advance close enough to the Quad
State to finally bring a chance of rain to the region.
Inconveniently, this would be Halloween weekend so, once we move
closer, we will need to monitor this system for timing issues.
Temperatures, forecast to be several degrees above normal
through the seven day forecast period, are also favored to be
above normal in the 6-10 and 8-14 day outlooks. Completely dry
conditions today through the workweek will give way to above
normal precipitation being favored in the 6-10 day outlook.
