.KEY MESSAGES...
- Widespread frost is expected tonight as temperatures drop into
the lower to middle 30s. Portions of southeast Missouri and
southern Illinois may briefly reach the freezing mark.
- A warming trend will begin on Sunday, with high temperatures
climbing a few degrees above normal for Wednesday through
Friday. No rain and few clouds are expected.

1034mb surface ridge sits just to the northeast of the area.
Dewpoints are in the upper 30s to low 40s with clear skies and
calm winds. We appear on track for a very strong radiational
cooling event through the next few hours which should lead to
the first widespread frost of the season.
Another strong upper ridge builds in over the central Plains
through the next few days and keeps our pattern blocked up
through the end of the week. We still look on track for dry and
pleasant conditions with seasonable highs in the 70s and lows in
the 40s. Guidance consensus is strong in keeping that pattern in
place at least into next weekend.

Surface high pressure centered just to our north moves east
across Appalachia thru this time tmrw. Skies will remain clear
in this cool/dry air mass. Northeast winds diminish tonight and
veer to light southeast tmrw with the high's migration.
