.NEAR TERM
Issued at 115 PM CDT Thu Jun 20 2024

A few showers and possibly an isolated thunderstorm or two may
develop this afternoon, mainly over the southern part of forecast
area along a plume of enhanced moisture translating westward along
the southern periphery of a strong upper level ridge of high
pressure building into the Tennessee and Mid-Mississippi Valley
regions. Made some slight adjustments to POPs based on the latest
forecast trends, but generally kept them between 20-40% coverage
this afternoon along the moisture plume. High temperatures are on
track to range in the upper 80s to lower 90s.

Area beaches continue to report rough surf and dangerous rip
currents today with double red flags flying (water closed to
public). The High Surf Advisory and High Rip Current Risk
continues. Plan to allow the Coastal Flood Advisory for coastal
portions of Alabama to expire on schedule at 2 PM. /21
