Upper ridging continues to be dominant over the south-central
CONUS through the weekend. Upper troughing splits over the
southeastern CONUS with part of this retrograding westward across
the forecast area this weekend. Upper ridging then builds in
across the region for next week. As better moisture returns to the
area throughout the atmospheric column, more typical afternoon
scattered showers and storms are expected to become established by
late this weekend into next week as better moisture returns to
the area. Hot temperatures can be expected each day with highs
topping out in the lower to middle 90's and overnight lows in the
lower to middle 70's. Heat indices will generally stay below heat
advisory criteria in the 95 to 105 range, perhaps sneaking to near
advisory criteria by the middle of next week in the 100 to 107
range. A Low risk of rip currents remains through the weekend and
early next week. MM/25
