.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 237 AM EDT Thu Apr 17 2025

Weak upper level ridging will build north of the Ohio River today
and allow much warmer air to the reach the area. High temperatures
should reach close to 65 degrees. The warm flow will continue
tonight with low temperatures holding in the 50s. Some showers
are likely to try to reach the area; however, the atmosphere is
initially more stable farther east and not likely to support
much in the way of showers. Also, the arrival of an Elevated
Mixed Layer (EML) should help initially prevent showers with a
sizable cap in the lower levels. Stronger large scale ascent
will eventually make storms more favorable and should be
favorable for severe storms with damaging winds the greatest
threat.

Showers and scattered storms are likely to persist through the
weekend as short wave energy and a sizable upper level system
migrate northeast in strong upper level flow. 850 mb winds
parallel to the front with precipitable water values from 1.20
to 1.60 inches favor the chances for heavy rain, especially
if a west/east zone is able to set up.

.AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z FRIDAY/...
Issued at 605 AM EDT Thu Apr 17 2025

Amid tranquil near term weather, no significant changes to the
TAFs with this issuance. Lingering dry air from departing high
pressure will hamper late afternoon rain chances. Forecast
soundings show a 30+ degree surface dew point depression while
the low-level dry air extends to 700mb (nearly 9k FT). A
strengthening wind field after sunset necessitates LLWS while
showers and thunderstorms after 06z are favored to the north of
KSBN.
