20 NM...
At 609 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Fort Walton
Liberty Ship Reef, or 8 nm south of Destin, moving east at 35 knots.
HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater and large hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and
suddenly higher waves. Large hail could result in
structural damage.
Locations impacted include...
Destin, East Pass At Destin, Okaloosa Pier, and Fort Walton Liberty
Ship Reef.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes.
Wind gusts 34 knots or greater, large hail, high waves, dangerous
lightning, and heavy rain are possible with this storm.
Frequent lightning is occurring with this storm. If caught on the
open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded
metal objects.
