NEAR TERM...
(Now through Saturday Night)
Issued at 349 PM CST Fri Jan 24 2025

With an upper trof axis sweeping east of the area, the height
field aloft transitions to a more west to east zonal flow to open
up the weekend. At the surface, a strong 1030 mb ridge of high
pressure axis moves east atop the area the remainder of the day
and looks to take up a position over the southeast US on
Saturday. Clouds expected to increase Saturday night as southern
stream moisture, caught up in the westerlies aloft, spreads east
over the Lower MS River Valley ahead of next front sinking
southeast to the upper AR/MS Border, southwest to across LA to
southeast TX late Saturday night.

Another cold night on tap with lows dipping down into the
lower/mid 20s interior to 28 to 33 coast. Highs on Saturday
favored to lift to a range of 52 to 57. With the high more to our
east Saturday night and an increase in clouds, this supports lows
reflecting a much more modified strata in the lower to mid 30s
interior to 40 to 45 coast. /10

LONG TERM...
(Sunday through Friday)
Issued at 349 PM CST Fri Jan 24 2025

A general zonal flow aloft will continue through much of the
period. At the surface, high pressure situated over Florida, will
keep the area in a light onshore flow pattern through Thursday.
This will allow for moisture to return to the area and for
temperatures to moderate through the period, with highs
potentially reaching the upper 60s to lower 70s by Wednesday. Two
fronts attempt to make their way through the area, but at this
point they will likely stall somewhere overhead or just offshore
and wash out. The first front moves in on Sunday night into Monday
morning and will bring scattered to numerous showers to the area.
With little to no instability, not anticipating any thunderstorms
with this activity. After drying out on Tuesday, the second front
will move in sometime Wednesday night, possibly bringing another
round of isolated showers to the area. Temperatures look to cool
off by Thursday as the front slides into the northern Gulf. Rain
chances ramp up on Friday as a storm system develops over the
Lower Mississippi River Valley. /96

MARINE...
Issued at 349 PM CST Fri Jan 24 2025

No impactful marine weather through the middle of next week. Winds
light. Seas 2 feet or less. /10
