.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 307 AM CST Tue Jan 21 2025

A cold front is moving through area this morning and will
continue its eastward movement today. Point soundings across the
area do some a relatively thin layer of moisture that may be
just enough for a flurry or two but not expecting much more than
that. The cold will continue today and tonight. Highs will only
climb into the teens across most areas and the most recent NBM
keeps upper single digits near and north of I-64. A healthy
northwest wind behind the front will keep wind chills in the -10
to 10 range today with the lower values further north and west.
Surface high pressure builds in behind the front tonight. Lows
will fall into the single digits to lower teens. We will keep
enough wind for another cold weather advisory for tonight
across some locations.

We start a slow trend of moderating temperatures after tonight.
On Wednesday we will be between two troughs and should see a
return to southerly low level flow. Highs will slowly climb to
around the freezing mark. A cold front moves through the region
early Thursday and the forecast will be dry given limited
moisture. An additional trough makes its passage through the
region early Friday. Again column moisture looks pretty limited
but may be just enough to squeeze out a few flurries. Behind
this system high pressure settles across the western Atlantic
while low pressure organizes across the plains. Southerly flow
will bring warmer temperatures back into the area for the late
week and will carry into the the weekend. Another area of low
pressure is advertised to organize across the southern plains.
This system will send precipitation to the area for the
weekend.

.AVIATION /00Z TAFS THROUGH 00Z WEDNESDAY/...
Issued at 420 PM CST Mon Jan 20 2025

A surface reflected trof/boundary will make passage late
tonight, drawing in some clouds and shifting winds tmrw morning
like a fropa. CIGS, as they occur, should remain VFR, but may
lower closer to restricted cats as model time/height cross
sections suggest its possibility with some sub H8 moisture
lowering.
