normal through the middle of this week.

.SHORT TERM...(Today through Monday)
Issued at 527 AM EDT SUN OCT 27 2024

Current satellite channels show that areas of fog have developed
mainly in the southern counties east of the Escarpment/ Daniel
Boone National Forest area. These areas of fog are expected to mix
out by mid morning. High clouds continue to stream into the area
out of the northwest. Ensemble guidance show these clouds clearing
out of the area around noon. Highs today will generally be in the
mid to upper 60s, under light northeasterly winds. Low-level
moisture along with warm air advection will surge north and east
into Kentucky tonight and even more so Monday. Valleys are
expected to decouple leading to much cooler temperatures than
ridges. Forecasted lows are in the mid to upper 30s across
northwestern valleys and lower to mid 40s across southeastern
valleys. The ridges along and east of the Escarpment will remain
elevated with lows in the mid 40s to low 50s. Areas of fog are
expected to develop along river valley locations after sunset
which may locally reduce visibility at times.

Monday, fog is expected to mix out by mid morning with quiet
weather continuing under light winds. These winds strengthen out
of the south, advecting warmer air in, leading to highs in the
lower 70s.

.LONG TERM...(After midnight Monday night through Saturday)
Issued at 621 AM EDT SUN OCT 27 2024

Fair weather and well above normal temperatures (+10 to 15 degrees)
will be ongoing at the start of the long-term period. Surface high
pressure slowly pivots and drifts off the Atlantic Seaboard through
Wednesday. Meanwhile, a potent upper level Pacific trough will cross
the Rockies and shove a preceding cold front toward the Ohio Valley.
Our next rain chances come late Thursday and Thursday night as
that cold front passes. Guidance suggests a 60 to 80% chance for a
wetting rainfall (at least 0.1 inch). Drier weather follows the
front for Friday and Saturday as surface high pressure passes
through the Great Lakes and brushes the Ohio Valley. High
temperatures in the mid 70s to around 80 are expected for Tuesday
through Thursday, before falling back into the 60 to near 70 for
Friday. Temperature warm a few degrees for Saturday. Nighttime
lows warm from the mid 40s to mid 50s on Monday night to the mid
50s to lower 60s on Wednesday night. Behind the frontal passage,
lows dip back into the 40s for Friday night.

.AVIATION...(For the 06Z TAFS through 06Z Sunday night)
ISSUED AT 148 AM EDT SUN OCT 27 2024

VFR conditions are expected at all TAF sites through the forecast
period with light northeasterly winds under 5 knots. Some high
level clouds will continue to work their way across the state from
06Z through 14Z Sunday before departing to the southeast. River
valley fog has developed across portions of eastern Kentucky that
may lead to localized areas of reduced visibility, however no vis
reductions are currently expected at any TAF sites.
