...New NEAR TERM, SHORT TERM, LONG TERM, MARINE...

.NEAR TERM...
(Now through Monday night)
Issued at 143 AM CDT Sun Oct 20 2024

The upper ridge extending from the western Gulf of Mexico to the
midwest states will breakdown late tonight through Monday as the
upper cut-off low over the Desert Southwest ejects toward the east-
northeast. Meanwhile, a surface high pressure area will remain
intact across the southeastern US. A dry airmass will continue
through Monday as a slug of very dry air invades from the northeast,
with afternoon relative humidity values dropping into the low to mid
20s all the way to the coast. This will pose a risk for hazardous
fire conditions, and caution is advised when trying to burn. High
temperatures today will be slightly above normal, and range from 77
to 81 degrees. Highs Monday should be 2 to 3 degrees warmer, ranging
from 79 to 83 degrees, or around 5 degrees above normal. Low temps
tonight will range from 46 to 51 degrees inland, 52 to 57 degrees
near the coast, and around 60 degrees at the beaches. Lows Monday
night will be about 2 degrees warmer across the board. The rip
current risk will remain HIGH through this afternoon, becoming
MODERATE tonight and Monday, then becoming LOW Monday night. /22

SHORT AND LONG TERM...
(Tuesday through Saturday)
Issued at 143 AM CDT Sun Oct 20 2024

Not much change to the sensible weather pattern is expected for
the short and long term periods, as surface high pressure remains
anchored over the eastern CONUS. Broad upper ridging over the
southwest CONUS will persist through the end of the work week,
keeping a northwesterly component to the upper level flow over the
area. Skies will remain mostly clear through the period, with
ample daytime heating allowing highs to moderate above seasonal
norms, with highs in the mid to upper 80s by the end of the week.
Meanwhile, light flow each night will lead to good radiational
cooling and overnight lows will fall into the 50s. /73

.MARINE...
Issued at 143 AM CDT Sun Oct 20 2024

Small craft should exercise caution well offshore through
tonight. A light to moderate northeasterly to easterly flow will
persist into Tuesday, and then become variable less than 10 knots
through Thursday. Seas will gradually subside into midweek. /22
