AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
National Weather Service Wilmington OH
343 AM EDT Tue Oct 1 2024
.SYNOPSIS...
An upper level disturbance will approach and move through the
region today into tonight. High pressure will work into the
region for Wednesday allowing for several days of dry
conditions. A cold front will move through the region on Sunday.
&&
.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 7 PM THIS EVENING/...
Stratus is in place across eastern portions of the forecast
area. This cloud cover has kept visibilities from dropping too
low in the central Ohio area. Further west across eastern
Indiana, parts of northern Kentucky, and far western Ohio there
have been more breaks in the clouds or even clear skies. This
has allowed for more fog to form. Have a sps for part of the
portions of Ohio and northern Kentucky for patchy dense fog. For
far western portions of the forecast area have a dense fog
advisory where observations are reporting a quarter of a mile or
less and web cams also confirm reduced visibility. There are
some clouds further west that will likely move into the region
later in the overnight hours or early daytime morning hours
which will help to improve visibilities, however wanted to
account for current visibility restrictions with the advisory.
During the day today scattered showers and potentially isolated
thunderstorms will develop in advance of an upper level
disturbance. As this feature pushes through winds will then pick
up and have some wind gusts of 20 to upward of around 30 mph
late in the day.
&&
.SHORT TERM /7 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH 6 PM WEDNESDAY/...
Wind gusts will continue into the evening hours before
decreasing. Precipitation will push eastward tonight and high
pressure will start to work into the region. With the cooler
airmass moving into the region low temperatures tonight are
expected to be in the middle 40s to the middle 50s. CAA on
Wednesday will allow for cu development. High temperatures in
the upper 60s to lower 70s will be possible.
&&
.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY/...
High pressure will prevail for the early part of the period. A weak
cold front will slide through the region on Friday, but forcing and
moisture are limited so it should come through dry. Next high in the
wake of this front will be rather transient.
A deepening mid level trough will push a stronger cold front through
the area on Sunday. Showers will develop as this front moves
through. The high that follows will bring a little more noticeable
change in airmass.
Wednesday night will have seasonably cool temperatures. Thereafter,
temperatures will be above normal until Monday when they will back
closer to normal.
&&
.AVIATION /08Z TUESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/...
Fog and stratus will be present overnight. Scattered showers
will develop during the daytime hours. A more concentrated line
of showers will move through later in the day, followed by some
gusty winds for a few hours. Wind gusts are expected to let up
near the end of the TAF period.
OUTLOOK....Local MVFR to IFR conditions possible Tuesday
night.
