AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
National Weather Service Wilmington OH
416 AM EDT Fri Sep 13 2024

.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure will continue to provide dry weather across the
Ohio Valley. Temperatures will remain above normal through the
weekend.

&&

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
A large mid level ridge to remain centered over the Great Lakes.
This will work to block the northward progression of the
remnants of Francine. Expect generally dry weather across the
area today with mainly high level clouds across the area.

The exception is the far southwest counties which look to be
potentially on the far northern periphery of the moisture.
Can not rule out a few light rain showers or sprinkles today
across these extreme southwest counties. Have limited pops to
slight chance/chance categories with light QPF of less than a
tenth of an inch.

Highs today to range from near 80 southwest where clouds are
thickest to the mid 80s northeast.

&&

.SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH 6 PM SATURDAY/...
A blocking pattern to continue with a large mid and upper level
ridge centered over the eastern Great Lakes. This ridge will
keep the moisture from the remnants of Francine southwest of
ILN/s area. Clouds generally decrease overnight with lows from
the upper 50s northeast to the mid 60s southwest.

Dry weather to persist into Saturday with mostly sunny and warm
conditions. Highs on Saturday generally in the mid and upper
80s.

&&

.LONG TERM /SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY/...
A persistent area of high pressure is forecast to keep dry weather
across the ILN area through the period. This will exacerbate drought
conditions that are exceptional in parts of the area. Temperatures
remaining above normal will feature highs in the 80s and lows within
a few degrees of 60.

&&

.AVIATION /08Z FRIDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/...
VFR conditions are expected through the TAF forecast period.
High and some mid level clouds will continue to stream up into
the area from the south ahead of the remnants of Francine.

Can not rule out a light shower at KCVG and KLUK this evening
but this will have little impact. Being on the northern
periphery of pcpn threat and with dry air in place have opted
to go with dry forecast.

Easterly winds at 10-12kts today will decrease to less than 10
kts tonight.

OUTLOOK...No significant weather expected.
